藥師佛手中端的一個缽，裏面的百寶囊中放著無量的藥。藥師佛如來是藏藍色，一個人如果把色身轉化了，也就是報身修成功，中脈通了，身心內外都在萬里無雲、蔚藍色的境界中，那才可以轉報身而得長壽。左手持缽盛滿甘露，右手持訶梨勒果，《金光明最勝王經》云：「訶梨勒一種，具足有六味；能除一切病，無忌藥中王。」
畫家利用傳統製造唐卡畫布方式反翻用石頭刷平棉布及珍貴礦物顏料造成。
畫家想籍著這幅畫代表希望每人都能藥到病除，守護各人健康。
